Hey, we're in the news...

Last year our local newspaper expressed an interest in doing an article on our Halloween display.  They sent a photographer, Katherine Jones, and a reporter, Dan (Dusty) Parnell.  It's been an interesting and fun experience.  They both did an awesome job and we're crazy about the results.  We are beyond thankful for their interest and their talent.
The print edition is in the Idaho Statesman Treasure Magazine.  It's a special edition printed 4 times a year and included with subscriptions.
The online edition has a video and about 47-48 photos.
BTW ~ I am not clever adding links, photos, etc.  The photo below is not one of theirs.  It's mine but I couldn't figure out how to attach their photo to the links. To view the print or online editions, please click on the links.

Great Pumpkin Project ~ Day 1

Great Pumpkin Project ~ Day 1

St. Benedict's Haunted Hospital in Sterling, Colorado.  I grew up here...northeast Colorado...and yes, several people truly believe it is haunted.  Many, many stories...faces in the elevator...faces in the windows...no power in eons and yet, the lights still come on....

Last year...

Last year photos.  This year won't look much different.  These two sentinels on either side of the front door give me that..."ahhhh" feeling.  I like them.  I like that they are at least 9 foot tall.  I like the dead sagebrush arms lifted high above their heads.  I like the flicker lighting in the pumpkin heads.  I like that they look either out to the street or down at the doormat.  And, yes, I did get on my knees and look up to get the angle of the head perfect for knee high tall TOTs.  I just like them....ahhhhhh...

ahhhh

Bats in Belfry ...

We've had these wooden Bonnie Barrett bats since time eternal.  Love them.  I hang them from wires over the front entry.  The winds does bash them around a bit and they've flown away from time to time.  They're getting a little worn looking and if you look closely the one at the top has had his wing broken.  My husband, my sweat tech, stapled his wing as an easy solution.  Now we have a Frankenbat....

Pinhead...

The obsession this year...heads.  I had a box of horse nails left over from the last century....a stained glass project.  It is almost disturbing how relaxing it was to push these nails into a head in somewhat of a grid pattern.  Who knew...

My version of Pinhead...

Styling...

Looking forward...

I'd like to give a thumbs up to:  Spoonman.com
He had a booth at a local show here last fall.  It was heaven for weirdos.  The styling glasses are from his imagination.   Styling specs and more...
